Description
Arc-Zone Sharpie DX™ head red color for sharpening tungsten electrode tips for TIG welding with range 15°-45° for electrodes diameter 1.6 - 2.4 - 3.2 mm without rotary tool sold separately
The Sharpie DX™ Tungsten Sharpening Head Only Kit (rotary tool sold separately) is designed to fit most popular straight grinders with a 3/4" x 12 male thread collar.
NOTE: The rotary tool to make the head work must have a 3/4" x 12 thread to fit the head to it! (measure twice - order only once).
We recommend the Milwaukee M12 C12-RT0 cordless rotary tool but there are many other suitable alternatives, including:
- Milwaukee M12 C12-RT0 straight grinder
- Black & Decker RTX (A-PTG-001)
- Bosch GRO 12V-35

The Sharpie DX™ Head Kit has an adjustable sharpening angle from 15° to 45° for virtually any TIG welding application. The engineered head design allows for sharpening, cutting and the addition of a flat tip.
The head kit provides the possibility of mounting electrode clamps with a diameter of 1.6 mm (1/16"), 2.4 mm (3/32") and 3.2 mm (1/8").
Main features:
- Head with adjustable tip sharpening angle from 15° to 45°
- Tungsten electrode cutting slot
- Flat pointed doors
- Quality diamond wheel with double grinding side
- Collets supplied: 1/16" (1.6 mm), 3/32" (2.4 mm) and 1/8" (3.2 mm)
- Black color (as first listing image)
Note: The 1.0mm (0.040") diameter tungsten electrode clamp is sold separately or is included in the Sharpie DX™ PRO kit.
Tungsten with precise and linear sharpening:
Sharpie ™ grinders provide fast, consistent electrode grinding for quick arc start-up, better weld puddle control and improved weld quality. The double-sided diamond grinding wheel easily grinds the shape of the tip of the tungsten electrodes, Possible sharpening diameters: 1.6 mm, 2.4 mm and 3.2 mm). **Note: (1.0mm) tungsten collet sold separately.
High quality tool:
You are investing in a quality product that will provide years of service. Each head is built to well-defined specifications. Most machined parts are made in the USA!
Flat tip option:
Tungsten electrodes ground to a sharp tip are proven to burn and cause inclusions in the weld. By removing the tip and adding a flat tip, you get better arc starts, longer electrode tip life, and reduced weld contamination.
Cut-Off/Score Option:
The integrated cutting or engraving option allows you to cut and remove only the contaminated parts of the electrode. No more bent or broken electrodes that cause the tungsten to chip, reducing electrode performance.
Safe and easy to use:
Prepare your machine for the job at hand and grind the electrodes in the shop or in the field. The enclosed grinding wheel eliminates safety issues common with angle grinders or bench grinders that can chip the electrode with potentially serious consequences for the operator.
Save time and money:
The diamond grinding wheel reduces tungsten consumption and waste. Stop wearing out sander belts and sanding deep grooves in bench grinder wheels. Your workshop will be cleaner, safer and more productive. The long-life reversible diamond grinding wheel also allows for low spare parts costs.
Welds like a Pro Tip™
Paradoxically from what you might think, frequent resharpening of slightly worn electrode tips improves the quality of the weld and reduces the use of tungsten. Waiting until the tip is completely eroded or contaminated requires removing more tungsten material, resulting in more tungsten usage, costing time and money.
Further technical specifications:
- Minimum length of sharpening electrode: 31.7mm
- Sharpening angle adjustment 15°-45°
- Recommended speed of straight grinder: 5000-32000 rpm
Performance Tips:
If you need to replace your Sharpie spindle bearing, we highly recommend replacing the bearing with our new bearing and spindle kit.
Frequently blow the grinding dust from the head area.
When cutting the electrodes, be sure to remove any cut pieces of tungsten that may have fallen into the head assembly - they could get stuck in the spindle/wheel cavity and cause the machine to seize.
