Welding helmet: why use it?
To understand the issues related to your safety, let's start with the structure of a welding helmet .
The main elements are:
- internal cruise , which rests on the head,
- adjustable band , to tighten or widen as desired, on the back of the neck
- darkening filter that protects the eyes during welding.
Let's say you wear a helmet and start welding. What can happen with wire or active electrode welding is that while we are welding, dots, welding spatters start to crackle, to jump around, everywhere.

What are welding headdress and what are they used for?
There are some fireproof cotton caps that have the precise aim of protecting the whole head. Furthermore, these types of caps prevent the bad smell - the typical slightly acrid smell that is felt by heating the metal for just a few minutes - from impregnating the hair.
There are different types of headdress; let's look at them together.
SACIT CAP-62 headdress with strap
The first type is characterized by:
- flame retardant cotton
- tear with strap , positioned under the neck, to open and close
- broad protection on face and top
- tail of fabric on the neck which, however, does not ensure total protection of the area, as it remains poorly adherent and during movements it may not be able to prevent the contact of the welding dots with the skin.
SACIT CAP-66 headdress
This second type, unlike the first, also offers greater protection for the neck:
- it is more closed under the chin
- features Strap that practically closes on the cheek
- the back on the neck is wider and longer , reaching up to the shoulders and closing the entire surface so that nothing enters the neck.
